Staff

Currently hiring for Housekeeping, Programming/Marketing, Kitchen, Maintenance, & several Work Exchange positions.

Overview

Song of the Morning is an amazing place for those consciously on the spiritual path who want to put their heart into what they do. Our staff positions provide an opportunity to learn how the practical applications of Yoga relate to everyday life as well as the chance to advance in spiritual discipline and growth.

There are many staff roles, including housekeeping, kitchen, maintenance,programming/marketing, reservations/bookstore, and grounds/gardening. gardeningEach person’s role varies depending on his or her skill set. We often function more like a team to accomplish the needs of the retreat. It is not out of the question to spend a morning out in the garden, move into housekeeping, and then end up in the kitchen for dinner prep. We are really just one big staff working together to fulfill the needs of the Ranch. Staff members are expected to attend group practices as scheduled, evening meditation and morning meetings and to help with meal clean up. Work days run from eight to five and into the evening when we have guests.

Lodging at Song of the Morning is simple and comfortable, allowing you to get the most out of your yogic experience without the usual distractions of phones, televisions, etc. Most staff rooms are quite small, lovingly referred to as “pods,” and include a half bath, located in the same facility as the kitchen,
dining room, and offices.

Living and working at Song of the Morning is an intensely communal environment; therefore, an ability to commune well with others is a necessity. Time off includes evenings between dinner clean-up and meditation, Sundays after clean-up (approx. 3:30pm), and all day most Mondays.

While we do not require a contract, we ask that those applying to be on staff have the intention of being with us for at least one year. This provides staff members with a more complete experience as well as an opportunity to train and learn their positions. Are you willing to consider staying for at least a year? Staff members receive a stipend and free room and board.

CookingKitchen

Our cooks put so much love into the food, you’ll be able to taste it! Our kitchen crew has its hands full with making balanced gourmet vegetarian meals, bringing new and exciting dishes into the kitchen, and working around a multitude of dietary restrictions. Bon Appetit!

VacuumingHousekeeping

With guests coming every weekend and sometimes throughout the week, our housekeeping staff works hard to make our facilities shine! Staying on top of everything from laundry to bed making to room cleaning, they stay busy and even do it with a smile.

Maintaining and renovating our facilities (many of which were built in the 70’s or earlier) is a constant challenge at the Ranch, especially in our fluctuating climate. Our maintenance crew is invaluable, using skills ranging from carpentry to plumbing and electrical work to maintain our yoga retreat of excellence.

office workReservations & Bookstore

Our reservations and bookstore staff are the hub of the Ranch. Keeping things organized on the front lines, handling sales and phone queries as well as assiting with programming, marketing, and guest services keeps them hopping.

Programming/Marketing

We schedule our programs six months in advance and this position works to fill our program schedule and market programs, events, and the retreat in general.
