Our Clear Light Community
A place to know God
Spiritual communities are places where people live together in the spirit of cooperation and friendship, dedicated toward a common goal. Located on the property is our Clear Light Community, where residents support one another in a balanced life that is joyous and God-centered.
When you visit as a guest, you will likely meet community members who participate in the spiritual life of Song of the Morning, including leading evening meditations and Sunday Services, or volunteering with projects to keep the retreat center vibrant.
January 17 is a Clear Light Zoom Meeting sharing details of a leasehold estate, including a house and garage, available in the Clear Light Community to a qualified member. For further information, please visit the Clear Light Community website here.
“Plain living & high thinking”
Song of the Morning’s spiritual community is rooted in Paramahansa Yogananda’s vision of world brotherhood communities around the globe. He specifically directed his disciple Yogacharya Oliver Black to establish a spiritual retreat where one day one of these communities could flourish. The Clear Light Community at Song of the Morning sprang from these loftiest of human goals passed on to us from Yogananda. Today, this vision is a reality!
“Once we were strangers, but when we love God we become brothers and sisters. That Divine relationship is the strongest of bonds.” —Paramahansa Yogananda
Living in harmony, together
Community members benefit from a spiritually supportive and sustainable environment for any phase of life — be it embarking on education, raising a family, professional life, or retirement.
The residential community exists as part of a larger vision that includes organic gardens, a Community Center, Temple of All Religions, Town Center and Cottage Industry area.
“Gather together, those of you who share high ideals.”
— Paramahansa Yogananda
Community Day 2026
Each year, we gather as a community to reflect, reconnect, and explore how this sacred vision continues to unfold in our lives and in the growth of Clear Light. Community Day offers a special opportunity to come together in fellowship, learn more about our ever-evolving community, and share in the inspiration of what is yet to come.
This year's gathering included meaningful opportunities for connection, fellowship, and learning. A special highlight of the weekend was a guided tour of the Clear Light Community. Participants gathered at the Wheelhouse for an introduction to the history and vision of Clear Light Community, followed by a question-and-answer session. Following the introduction, guests visited the home of Tom Wright and the future site of the Fitzgerald family's home while learning more about life within the community. The tour concluded with fellowship and refreshments at the Pilobosian home, providing time to connect with friends, neighbors, and fellow spiritual seekers. Stay tuned for 2027 dates!
